Tutorial: Color Photo to Monochromatic Photo

  1. Choose File > Open to open your photograph
    ….Direct Link for photo: http://pixabay.com/en/waterfall-wilderness-rushing-water-215824/
  2. With your photo selected click on the Adjustment Layer icon and choose Black and White
  3. Use the Property Slider of the Adjustment Layer to emphasize or de-emphasize specific portion of the photo
  4. Use the Modify Slider on the Adjustment Layer by clicking on the image and sliding across the chosen area
  5. Manually move the Sliders on the Adjustment Layer to affect the image
  6. Place a check mark next to the Tint on the Adjustment Layer
  7. Click on the color box of the Tint to choose your color of tint
  8. Choose a Filter on the Adjustment Layer to further affect the image
  9. Use a Gradient Map on the Adjustment Layer to further refine the image
    ….Click on the Adjustment Layer icon and choose Gradient Map
    ….Click on the right arrow next to the Gradients
    ….Click on the gear icon and choose Photographic Toning
    ….Experiment with the Gradients (you can also click on a Gradient and make custom changes)
