Tutorial: Water Text

  • 1. Create a new project
    • File > New (Width: 840; Height: 400)
  • 2. Choose your Text Tool and write your text (I used Sans Bold; 180 pixels)
  • 3. Choose the Alignment Tool and click on your Text once
    • Align Center of Target
    • Align Middle of Target
  • 4. Right-click on the Text Layer and choose Alpha to Selection
  • 5. Add a new layer
    • Name: Grow
    • Layer Fill Type: Transparency
  • 6. Go to Select > Grow and grow the selection by 7 pixels
  • 7. Choose your Fill Bucket Tool and fill in the selection with black
  • 8. Move the Original Text Layer to the top (use the green arrow)
  • 9. Add a new layer
    • Name: Shrink
    • Layer Fill Type: Transparency
  • 10. Go to Select > Shrink and shrink the selection by 4 pixels
  • 11. Choose your Blend (Gradient) Tool
    • Gradient: Brushed Aluminum
    • Shape: Linear
  • 12. Hold down the CTRL button and apply stroke from top to bottom
  • 13. Go to Select > None
  • 14. Right-click on the Original Text Layer and choose Layer to Image Size
  • 15. Right-click on the Shrink Layer and choose Alpha to Selection
  • 16. Go to Filters > Render > Clouds > Solid Noise
    • Check Randomize
    • Detail: 1
    • X Size: 16
    • Y Size: 16
  • Go to Colors > Colorize
    • Hue: 208
    • Saturation: 50
    • Lightness: -14
  • 18. Go to Select > None
