How to export an SVG using freestyle | Blender 3.4

In this tutorial I will show you how to use Blender to export an SVG image for your projects.

Freestyle

I will be using the freestyle option in Blender to produce the SVG image

If you want to follow along, then you need to have the Freestyle SVG Exporter add-on enabled

This will work for both Eevee and Cycles

Under the render properties tab, I activate the Freestyle SVG Export option – for this quick tutorial, I will leave it on “Frame”

I also activate the Freestyle option

Under the layer properties tab, I activate Freestyle and uncheck the Silhouette, Crease, and Border Types under the Edge Type panel and check the Edge Mark Type

Under the output properties tab, I select where I want to save the SVG and give it a name

Exporting

I need to add light to my scene and set up the camera

In edit mode, I make sure I am in edge mode and select the object

I then right-click and choose “Mark Freestyle Edge”

Now all I need to do I render the image

The SVG is now automatically exported to the file that I chose in the output properties

I can now open this in a vector program such as Illustrator or Inkscape and continue to work on the project
