This video shows how to make a suede material in Substance Painter. You will learn how to make a procedural suede material and save it as a smart material in Substance Painter.
Suede Material
I begin by adding a Fill Layer and renaming it to Base
I change the color to a tan [#9C8767]
I increase the roughness
I duplicate the fill layer and rename it to variation 01
I change the color to a darker tan [#846F51]
I right-click and add a Black Mask
I right-click on the Black Mask and add a Fill
I add a grunge leather texture to this fill
I change the texture fill blending mode to signed addition and decrease the balance
I change the blending mode for the layer to lighten
I change the fill height to 0.01 and the roughness to 0.5
I duplicate the variation layer and rename it to variation 02
I change the color to a darker tan [#5A4B35]
I change the black mask fill texture to clouds 1 and decrease the balance
I also increase the tiling
I change the texture fill blending mode to linear light and decrease the opacity to 10-percent
I change the blending mode for the layer to divide
Smart Material
To save this material as a Smart Material, I add a Folder and rename it
I move all of my Layers into the Folder
I right-click on the Folder and Create Smart Material
