How to make your own peeling paint material | Substance Painter

Do you need an easy way to make your own peeling paint material?

In this tutorial I will show you how to make your own peeling paint material in Substance Painter for your project.

Texture

I will start with a wood base that I made in a previous tutorial

I add a fill layer and rename it to paint

Under the materials panel, I will change the base color to a midtone green [#5F7E3A]

I also turn the roughness down to 0.4

I also increase the height to 0.2

I right-click on the paint layer and add a filter called MatFx Peeling Paint

I can increase the Peeling Level to affect the amount of peeling of the material

To add some bubbles and more wear on the paint, I increase the Flaking Density

I right-click on the paint layer and add another filter

This time, I will add the blur slope filter which will roughen up the edges of the paint

I can decrease the intensity of the filter

Saving

I make a new folder to contain my paint layer and the filters layers and rename it

I drag my layers into the folder

I can now right-click on the folder and create a smart material
