In this tutorial, I will show you how to install and use the InstaMAT add-on to texture your object in Blender
Download & Install
You will need to already have InstaMAT installed in order to use this add-on
If you need to install InstaMAT, I do have a complete tutorial on the channel
You can access the download link for the add-on from your InstaMAT Cloud
Once you download the add-on, do NOT unzip it
Open Blender and under the Edit menu, go to Preferences
Under the Add-on tab, click on the Install button and search for the add-on you downloaded
Once it is installed, activate it and save your Preferences
Texturing
Under the Shading workspace, use the N-key to open the Properties Panel
You should now see an InstaMAT tab
Under the Settings tab, you should see your Paths already set up – if they are not, I have a link to the documentation to show you how to set them up
Make sure you have a blank Material set up for the object you need to texture and your UVs are also properly done
I will be using an oil barrel that I downloaded from Sketchfab
Under the Library Browser tab, you can now search for a material
When you find a material you want to use, click on the play button to view the material
You can rename the material if you wish
Make sure the Connect to Active Material is activated and click on Create Instance
Once the material is applied, you will now be brought to the Instances Settings tab where you will have multiple options for changing the material
The Update Type is set to Automatic Full Resolution – this means that every time you make a change, the material will update
For instance, if you change the Seed, notice that the material automatically updates
If you don’t want it to update each time or if your computer is a bit slow, you can change the Update Type to Manual Full Resolution
This means that you can make your changes and then manually update them when you are ready
After you make all of your changes, at the bottom of the options, click on Update Instance
