This video shows how to use planar tracking using Davinci Resolve Fusion. You will learn how to use a green screen and planar tracking to produce a VFX shot in Davinci Resolve Fusion. The final composite and render was done in Davinci Resolve 18.
Import Video
I import the video and image that I will be using – link is in the description
In the Fusion tab I drag in the video and rename it
Planar Tracker
To add the Planar Tracker, I select the Media In node and search [shift + spacebar] for Planar Tracker
This allows the Planar Tracker to use the video as the tracking object
I click on the video and make a selection for the Planar Tracker to use
I move my play head to the middle of the timeline and make any adjustments as needed
Tracking
I Set my time where I want the Track Reference Time to begin
For the Motion Type, I just go with Perspective since it is the camera that is moving
Now that I have everything in order, I click on Track to End to start the actual tracking
I then click on Go to go back to the original frame and Track to Start to finish the track
Import Image
I drag-and-drop my image onto the node area and rename it
I make sure to use an image that is the same aspect ratio as the screen I’m replacing
To add the image, I select the Planar Tracker node and change the Operation Mode to Corner Pin
Now I can drag the corners of the image into place With the corners in place, I can now connect the output of the image node to the input of the Planar Tracker node
